American TV and Appliance Going Out of Business After 60 Years in the Industry

Sixty years are coming to a close for American TV and Appliance who is submitting documents for a Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 128 Receivership so its creditors can be safeguarded Fox 6 television station in Milwaukee reported Monday.

"While this is a sad moment it is also a proud moment. It's a moment to be proud of our efforts and to be proud of what we have delivered to the community", Doug Reuhl, President and CEO at American. "Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are to our millions of loyal customers, and to the incredible, dedicated family of employees that we have been blessed with over our 60 years of business," Reuhl told Fox 6. Reuhl has held his position since 1988 Fox 6 reported.

American TV and Appliance will close its 11 stores after it holds a going out of business sale, which starts Thursday Furniture Today reported.

Customers will still be able to honor gift cards while the sale is going on. Refunds will also be available for customers that do want to use the cards Fox 6 reported.

Customers can also utilize American's extended warranty policies that are covered under a third-party insurance company,  they may have bought Fox 6 reported.

Those with open orders expecting to be delivered will get their products delivered or money back on funds put down for a deposit on the order.

Customers with items in American's service will have them returned before the company's stores close for good Fox 6 reported.

American will pay the 989 employees affected by the upcoming closure with benefits included up until the company finished informing them about the news . Most employees are expected to remain employed until the stores close permanently.

American's 11 stores are in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa according to information its website.
