Mobile World Congress 2014: New Smartphones, Tablets and Smartwatches Debut (VIDEO)

The Mobile World Congress is in full swing in Barcelona, and the gadgets keep piling up. But what smartphones and tablets should you watch out for in 2014? We've compiled a few of the new announcements that have been coming out of the event.

First of all, there's the heavy hitter: the Samsung Galaxy S5. This smartphone, while not all that different from the S4, does have some fun, new features. It possesses a fingerprint scanner in addition to a built-in heart rate monitor, pedometer and fitness tracker. It's also waterproof and has an upgraded camera that should make taking pictures a snap. Samsung has also unveiled the Gear Fit smartwatch, which allows users to monitor their activity throughout the day.

Those aren't the only things coming out of the event, though. There's also the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone, Xperia Z2 tablet and the midrange M2 smartphone. The Xperia Z2 smartphone actually looks quite a bit like the Zperia Z1, according to PC Magazine. It possesses a 4K camcorder in order to compliment the new 20.7-megapixel camera.

There's also the Nokia X, the first Android phones from Nokia. These smartphones will be packed with Microsoft services, such as OneDrive and Skype, according to CNN.com. The phone should allow Microsoft enter emerging markets.

That's not to say that there aren't other gadgets that are making their debuts at the Mobile World Congress this year. In fact, you can learn more about them at CNN.com here. As the event continues, though, it looks as if this year is shaping up to a year of better cameras on phones and new improvements.
