United Airlines Begins Free In-Flight Movies, TV Shows in April

Free in-flight entertainment on United Airlines flights will give United Airlines passengers with Apple mobile devices movies and shows to watch.

The new program will have 150 movies, and nearly 200 television shows that customers can watch at no cost on their mobile phone the airline when it's launched in April the airline according to information on Mac Daily News.

The majority of United Airlines aircrafts will have the new digs with close to all flights traveling throughout the United States expected on or before the end of the year the airline reported.

"We'll begin on Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Boeing 747-400 and select 777-200 aircraft, followed by additional fleets. In the end, all United-operated flights will have some form of entertainment," United Airlines said in the statement.

"Remember that 48 hours before your flight you can check the amenities you'll have onboard at united.com or on the United app. (Please note that the amenities are subject to change up until the time of departure.)"

The service is available on the United App located in the iTunes App Store on cell phones except for Androids, among others which are not yet compatible. Users do not have to use the app on their laptop since the program is not needed.

Passengers will be able to obtain the app during their flight, and not have to buy the airline's Wi-Fi. Another option involves United's Portal, which flyers can view in an internet browser without using the app or plugins.

Passengers will just have to select their show or movie and begin, end, pause or change their choice whenever they want Mac Daily News reported.

United Airlines began equipping 30 airplanes with satellite W-Fi, and expected to install the service on 200 of its airplanes The Chicago Business Journal reported in October.

The service is now available domestically and internationally.
