Tim Hortons Brings Back Old Favorites to Menu for Birthday

Tim Hortons Inc. is releasing its "Bring It Back" promotion in celebration of the Canadian restaurant's 50th Anniversary.

The promotion will have Canadian customers vote on old items that they want to bring back, which will then return to stores later this year, according to the Huffington Post. These old favorites include Tim Hortons's éclair, pie, and the dutchie Timbet.

"For 50 years Tim Hortons has been updating its menu to suit the evolving tastes and preferences of our guests, and with that, some menu items have come and gone, yet we continue to receive requests to bring back beloved menu items," said Glenn Hollis, vice-president of marketing at Tim Hortons.

"Bring It Back is our way of saying thank you to our loyal guests for the past five decades. We hope it sparks fond memories for Canadians and Tim Hortons employees from coast to coast."

Customers will be able to choose five favorites from each decade, which will begin with the 1960s, Globalnews reported. The éclair was announced Thursday as the first nomination for the 60s. Voting for items from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s will be open each week for the next five weeks.

After all the competitors are decided, customers can go on TimesBringitBack.ca or Tim Horton's Facebook page to vote on their choice from May 1 to May 14. The winner will be announced on May 15, before the company's birthday on the 17, the Huffington Post reported.

Tim Hortons joins a list of companies that have used crowdsourcing campaigns, Globalnews reported. Lay's chips launched its "Do Us a Flavor" campaign, which is now having fans submit their ideas for flavors online so that their flavors are chosen for the next product. Doritos also had consumers vote on the name of two new flavors. The winning names were Guru and Velocity.

People have already started casting their "Bring It Back" notes on Twitter, suggesting items such as the strawberry tarts, maple walnut muffin, chili served in a bread bowl and the chocolate sour cream doughnut.
