9/11 Attacks Anniversary: Former US President Candidate Ron Paul Claims Government Knew About The Terrorists Plan Before Hand Adding It's 'Politically' Risky To Talk About

The United States and the whole world are just less than two weeks away from the 13th 9/11 Attacks Anniversary. While the relatives and friends of the innocent lives lost during this terrorism attacks are praying for the souls of victims to find their peace, the world continues to receive disturbing accounts about the tragedy. There have been many ridiculous conspiracy theories regarding the downing of the North and South towers of the World Trade Center. However, this latest information is probably more believable because of the person who did the talking. With what he revealed, the relatives are now wondering if they did get the right justice after US military forces killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Former presidential candidate Ron Paul has claimed that the US government had prior knowledge of the Twin Towers attack.

"I believe that if we ever get the full truth [about 9/11], we'll find out that our government had it in the records exactly what the plans were, or at least close to it," Paul said during an interview with host Charles Goyette of Money and Markets. "You already mentioned that [the U.S. government] had been warned that something was going to happen."

However, he insisted that he doubts it if the George W. Bush, the US President back then, helped or had any participation in plotting the attacks.

"Does that prove the fact that our president and others actually sat down and laid the plans and did this? I don't think it does," he said.

Aside from this revelation, the former Republican Party congressman also argued that the government has gone on to inflict immeasurable harm through wars in pursuit of those who did the attack that killed around 3,000 lives (including 19 hijackers) and injured 6,000.

"Our own government did more harm to the liberties of the American people than bin Laden did. [Bin Laden] was a monster himself, but that was minor compared to the damage done financially, the people that have died. And here we are, 24 years, and we're still fighting a war in the pretense that had something to do with 9/11."

This is such a surprising move from Paul with the fact that he described talks that Bush administration knew about the attacks as "complete non-sense." However, he said that touching on this topic is dangerous.

"It's politically very risky to talk about [questioning the 9/11 attacks], because the left and the government defenders are really, really quick to discredit anybody who raises any question whatsoever," said Paul. "They paint you, and they say 'oh you question this, that means you're a truther.' I was always amazed, if you question and you want the truth, how they took a word like 'truther' and turned it into a terrible, terrible word."

Many are also asking why does Paul have to speak about this now, when 9/11 Attacks Anniversary nears, and not during the time when the issue is still fresh.

Whether Paul's comments are politically motivated or not, we will never know. Two things are sure though. First, we will never be able to get back the lives that were lost from that traumatic tragedy. Second, this is not the best way to celebrate the very sad 9/11 Attacks Anniversary.
