Cee Lo Green's The Good Life Canceled By TBS In Wake Of His Controversial Rape Comments But Sources Say Cancellation Don't Have Anything To Do With The Singer’s Case

Cee Lo Green's The Good Life will no longer be on air after one season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The comedy reality show, which was created and hosted by The Voice coach himself, ran for six episodes since June. It is about Cee Lo Green's life as he juggles his works as producer and performer.

The cancellation comes in the wake of the singer's controversial tweets about rape.

He said:

"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! So WITH implies consent."

Followed by another:

"People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!" he added.

These tweets drew ire of many internet users and women's rights advocates. Those posts are related to a sexual assault filed against him at the Lost Angeles Police by a woman he allegedly dated back in 2012. The case lead to a year-long investigation and in October of last year, he pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of furnishing a controlled substance. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said they didn't file a charge of rape of an intoxicated person because the evidence are insufficient.

Right after his tweets, TBS was consistently haunted by rights group to cancel Cee Lo Green's The Good Life. In a petition, Ultra Violet wrote that TBS "got to drop him, now" because of those derogatory posts.

"Grammy-winning artist CeeLO Green just let loose a series of tweets claiming that rape isn't rape if the victim is unconscious.

What's worse is that his tweets aren't out of the blue-he recently pled no contest to drugging a woman who later woke up naked in his bed, with no memory of what happened. Yet despite this criminal act, and these incredibly dangerous tweets, major network TBS and its parent company Time Warner are still giving him a huge public platform in a reality TV show that recently premiered. They've got to drop him, now."

Three hours after the petition was posted, TBS canceled the show.

Although the popular opinion thinks that the Cee Lo Green's The Good Life cancellation is connected to the tweets, TBS insisted that it has nothing to do with it. As per THR, they said that it is because of the show's poor rating performance.
