This myth has been debunked by science - well, dark chocolates anyway. How? Here are a few factors why dark chocolates are good for you:

1. Dark chocolates have been known to help curb appetite

Dark chocolate is a proven natural appetite suppressant. Eat a couple of bites of dark chocolates about half an hour before each meal. You will notice that your usual appetite will be smaller as you will feel fuller before your meals.Try to bring small bars of dark chocolate to your work place in case you get hungry or just want something to munch on.

2. Dark chocolates are full of antioxidants that can help prevent premature aging

Antioxidants can help prevent premature aging. Some foods that also contain antioxidants are apple, strawberry, coffee and tea. You can mix and match these foods for a higher consumption of antioxidant levels in your body. For snack time you can opt to eat dark chocolate and complement it with your favorite brand of coffee or tea. You can also melt your chocolate with a bit of milk and use it as a dip to your apples and strawberries.

3. Eating dark chocolates is good for your brain, heart and teeth

Dark chocolates contain Theobromine which help harden our tooth enamel. It also increases blood flow both to the brain and heart. It also helps prevent stroke as it helps with our blood circulation. It is also high in potassium, copper, magnesium and iron. This helps in the prevention of high blood pressure, anemia and type 2 diabetes

4. Eating dark chocolates is a natural pick-me-up in the morning

It is comparable to coffee although it contains much less caffeine. Try melting dark chocolate with low fat milk in the morning with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Or you can also mix dark chocolate with your oatmeal. You can top it off with nuts or fruits.

5. Eating dark chocolates can make you happy

Aside from it being too yummy, dark chocolate releases phenylethyamine which is the same chemical that your brain creates when you feel you're in love. It also tells your brain to release endorphins which will make you happier. You can try eating dark chocolates when you feel sad or depressed.
