After two years since the last sequel, finally Ubisoft Montreal announces "Far Cry 4" release date and reveals gameplay to fans worldwide.
Since the franchise's first video game in 2004, "Far Cry" has been among the crowd favorites. This first-person shoot, action-adventure game is not quite like your regular linear games that allow plays to pursue missions sequentially. "Far Cry" franchise has allowed players freedom in the adventure they choose.
The "Far Cry" franchise focuses on a central character, and his adventure in an unexplored location as he achieves one ultimate goal.
The first "Far Cry" released in 2004 received the highest ranking among its sequels, acquiring a high 89% in overall standing according to Game Rankings. The storyline is based on Jack Carver, an ex-Special Forces stranded in an island in Micronesia and is looking for a female journalist whom he lost at sea.
Other sequels were released in 2008 and 2012. Consistently released four year apart, "Far Cry 4" release date of 2014 is the first that will be launched two years after its predecessor. This is attributed to the consistent positive reception of gamers worldwide.
Apart from the three "Far Cry" videos released, spin-off series have been made available for the Xbox console. Spin-off titles include "Far Cry Instincts", "Far Cry Instincts: Evolution", "Far Cry Instincts: Predator", "Far Cry Vengeance", "Paradise Lost", and "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon".
Ubisoft develops and publishes "Far Cry 4", as it has the previous videogames. Ubisoft is known for developing highly received video games such as "Watch Dogs", "Assassin's Creed" and "Prince of Persia".
The fourth installment "Far Cry 4" will focus on the adventure of Nepalese Ajay Ghale, in the Himalayas. Voiced by the actor Troy Baker known for his work in video game "BioShock Infinite" by 2K Games as Booker DeWitt, his adventure in the fictional region of Kyrat in the Himalayas focuses on simply scattering his mother's ashes. Unknown to him is the current civil war occurring in the country, he is caught in the middle and fights his way across an exciting terrain filled with big guns and wild animals.
"Far Cry 4" release date has been officially set on November 18 of this year for US and UK, and two days later for gamers in Australia.
