The four horsemen are officially back! With sequel "Now You See Me 2" in the works, plot, release date and cast news updates have been released online.
The box office hit "Now You See Me" released in 2013 is a story about street magic, and world of illusionists. It stars Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes, Jesse Eisenberg as Danny Atlas, Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney, Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves and Dave Franco as Jack Wilder. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine also appear in the movie as ex-magician and an insurance magnate, respectively.
Although "Now You See Me" gained mix reviews upon its release, the movie earned up to $350 million in box office sales worldwide. Consequently, almost right after the first movie, talks on a sequel have already been on the table.
In an interview with MovieWeb, director Louis Leterrier shares his thoughts on the "Now You See Me 2" plot, release date and cast. He says, "We're actively working on the sequel to 'Now You See Me', so that is happening. We're writing it, and it's pretty fun. We had such a great time doing that and we loved the characters. Our biggest problem now is that we have too many great ideas. We're sort of saying, 'What if he would do that? That would be amazing, I want to see this, I want to see that.' We want it to be more intense and twisty as the first one, but also learn more about the characters and go deeper, what a great sequel should do."
He continues on "Now You See Me 2" plot, release date and cast information saying, "That's going to take not too long, but enough so, just like in the first one, it's perfectly crafted. If you think about it, David Copperfield takes five years to prep, to create and prep. We just have a couple of years to do ours."
To date, "Now You See Me 2" release date has been set to 2016 and confirmed returning cast to be the original Four Horsemen actors, with Freeman and Caine.
