With Windows 8 receiving the second lowest sales next to Windows Vista, will consumers be satisfied with the developments of Windows 9? Release date information revealed online.

Windows has continued to fight the operating system battle against other heavy weight developers. After launching the recent Windows 8.1 in 2013, which faired relatively better than its Windows 8 predecessor, Windows faces another bout of skeptical forecasting for the upcoming Windows 9 release date.

According to reports, Windows 9 will be one of the most significant releases of Microsoft. As this OS version will address the sorting needs of the start menu.

Among the many changes to the OS line that will reportedly appear in Windows 9 release date is the notifications center.

According to DigitalTrends.com, "[notifications center] will live in the System Tray along the Taskbar in the right hand corner of the desktop. Notifications will be organized on an app-by-app basis, and you'll be able to dismiss them individually, or all of them simultaneously with the click of a button."

Cortana, Microsoft's intelligent personal assistant first made available on the Windows Phone 8.1 is also reported to be included in Windows 9 upon its release date. If Cortana is added to Windows 9, this means that the ability for voice interaction will be possible; voice search would be feasible.

Recently, online reports have claimed of a leaked preview of the Windows 9 to be released. This spurred on speculations and reactions as the preview shows what seems to be a screencap of the new Windows 9 start page.

While some critics with access to the leak reacted favorably, some weren't quite convinced that this was such a good move for Microsoft. In PCWorld.com, a recent article by Mark Hackman shared, "The latest Windows 9 leaks, showing a Start-menu fusion of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, beg the question: Microsoft, why are you scooping ice cream over a hot dog?"

The operating system Windows 9 release date has been set to 2015, however no definite date has been revealed. A preview version will be available on September 30 of this year.
