Gotham TV Series: The Joker Isn't The Only One You Should Be Excited? See Geeky Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed From The Pilot Episode

Sep 26, 2014 07:20 AM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Gotham TV series made a good debut last Monday night with most of the villains being on the spotlight. The Fox drama, which tells the story of young Bruce Wayne/Batman (played by David Mazzouz) and James Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie), received great reviews from critics. However, for many, what made it a compelling drama are the origin stories of the villains and other major characters that the young Bruce battled and worked with more than 20 years after. There's the Penguin played by Robin Lord Taylor, there's Selina Kyle/Catwoman played by Camren Bicondova, and there's the Riddler played by Cory Michael Smith.

Aside from the characters mentioned above, you might see more of the famous Batman characters if you'll be observant enough while watching Gotham TV Series. Through the 48-minute episode, directors and writers have laid down geeky Easter Eggs that would tell, or not, what to expect as the show progresses.

Check the list below for the things you might have missed during the first episode of the Gothma TV series.

1. The Clock in Barbara Kean's apartment

* The Bat Girl is the daughter of James Gordon and Barbara Kean. She is known as Barbara Gordon in the real world but when the city and the lives of its people are on the line, she becomes Batman's master hacker also known as Oracle. Her workplace, Gotham City's Clock Tower just like what we saw in Barbara's apartment.

2. 4th and Grundy

* When Harvey Bullock (played by Donal Logue) called Gordon because he found lead on the Wayne Murder case, he asked the latter to go to "the corner of 4th and Grundy." In the DC world, Cyrus Gold is murdered and was resurrected to become a zombie-like monster called Solomon Grundy.

3. Gotham City Casino

* In films and other various media, the Penguin owned a casino. Will Robin Taylor's character have one based on this screenshot from the first episode?

4. The Batman's cape

* This is more like a symbolism of what would be Bruce Wayne like once he grows up. Gordon comforted the young man by placing a black blanket on his shoulder.

5. Fish Mooney's dancers represent Harley Quinn

* There was no Joker cameo in the pilot but Harley Quinn made an appearance, at least in the costume of the dancers in Fish Mooney's club. It is unlikely that one of the three dancers will become joker's apprentice and girlfriend but having them wear red and black costumes surely adds to the craze.

6. The Joker

* Remember the scared comedian playing for Fish Mooney? The Joker started as a failed comedian. He could be it. Or not. According to show runner Bruno Heller, Batman's most popular enemy will not be seen in the show. However, he said that a pre-Joker character might be there in the form of clues.
