Lynda Bellingham: All Creatures Great Star Lynda Bellingham Who Battles With 'Terminal Cancer' Opts To Stop Cancer Treatment

Lynda Bellingham known for movies All Creatures Great and Small and Loose Women opted to stop treatment of her terminal cancer.

Bellingham,66, was diagnosed with colon cancer, which has since spread to her lungs and liver, in July 2013.

The ex Loos Women panellist revealed she only few weeks to live and decided when she will die.

"I've only got weeks to live - so I've picked the date I'll die."

"I would love to make one more Christmas, if possible, but I want to stop taking chemo around November in order to pass away by the end of January."

"It was such a relief to say those words."

"Please don't think I am giving up for the sake of a few ulcers, its the fact my body has started to rot, and I promised myself as soon as that happened I would make a plan. I want my family to remember me whole."

"I know it is not ultimately my decision, but it is my last vestige of control to sit in front of the oncologist and say when I would like to stop having chemo and let the natural way do its thing. I sat down with Michael and Professor [Justin] Stebbing and announced: 'The time has come to cease and desist. I would love to make one more Christmas, if possible, but I want to stop taking chemo around November in order to pass away by the end of January.'" 

"I want you all to remember me."

Lynd Bellingham described her battle with her terminal cancer in an autobiography that will be published next month.

An excerpr from her book she says in an entry dated 13 August 2014: "I sat down with Michael [Bellingham's husband] and Professor Stebbing [her oncologist] and announced: 'The time has come to cease and desist.

On Saturday, she tweeted: "Hi guys back from my holiday. Big weekend serialisation of book in Mail on Sunday. All revealed! I would appreciate your support x." 

Meanwhile, she thanked everyone's support and encouraged everyone to help people with cancer. Bellingham, whose sister Barbara died from lung cancer, has been a high-profile supporter of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.  

Lynda Bellingham's autobiography Memoir will be launched on October 9.
