According to the recent reports, Burger King sued its franchisee, Guillermo Perales for franchise agreement violation, thereby calling him to release ownership of 37 locations in Texas. Perales is one of the largest Burger King franchisees in the United States and has been involved in the operations of restaurants for the past twenty years.

The case stems from media reports in February featuring video of rats and mice near buns in the kitchen of a Burger King restaurant in Harlingen, Texas. Based on the franchise agreement, franchisors have a right to terminate when food safety or brand image is compromised. Before reaching any conclusion, it is essential to consider franchisee's point of view.
