Max, the streaming service previously known as HBO Max, is experiencing a significant change as Warner Bros. drops price of its ad-supported product over the next week. This strategic move aims to win subscribers to its low-priced, commercial-driven services.

As part of the Black Friday offer, new and returning Max subscribers can sign up for the advertising-supported streaming service for $2.99 monthly from Monday to Monday, November 27.

The promotion will last for six months. Typically, a Max subscription with advertisements costs $9.99 per month. Ad-free Max programs are priced between $15.99 and $19.99 monthly.

Warner Bros. Drop Price with Exciting shows

As Warner Bros. drops the price of Max, they also include upcoming shows like True Detective: Night Country, starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, which premiers on Jan. 14, as well as recent hits like Succession, House of the Dragon, and The Last of Us.

Additionally, the company announced that the service will shortly feature the summer phenomenon Barbie.

Moreover, Curb Your Enthusiasm (February 2024), House of the Dragon (Summer 2024), My Brilliant Friend Industry, We're Here, Hacks, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, Tokyo Vice, The Sex Lives of College Girls, and Sort Of are among the returning programs in 2024.

The move follows a third quarter in which Warner Bros. Discovery subscribers decreased marginally by 0.7 percent to 95.1 million, following a similar decline in the second quarter.

Earlier this month, Max's CEO, David Zaslav, informed investors that one of his objectives was to decrease attrition or subscriber turnover by expanding the sports and news offerings on the platform.

He stated, "Churn is the most significant problem we face." "Although this service is hugely compelling, the attrition rate is excessively high. Therefore, an all-out effort is being made to decrease attrition.

From HBO Max to Max

This May, the organization rebranded HBO Max as Max-the company's new streaming service- bringing all of its entertainment together in one place. HBO is still getting much attention, even though it's not in the name anymore.

Individuals who transition over will immediately recognize the home screen, show and movie sections, and overall user experience. However, even if an app appears similar, that does not imply it has been recycled: Warner Bros. Discovery has redesigned Max extensively to improve offline download reliability, navigation simplicity, and personalization depth.

The organization wished to demonstrate the breadth of additional content approaching Discovery without overwhelming customers.

Similar to HBO Max, Max permits multiple profiles per account. Alongside the principal profile, a default kids profile will be added for new users; this account is restricted to PG-rated content and below, but parents can modify the rating threshold.

A PIN can also be configured to prevent children from changing profiles while you are absent. When migrating accounts to Max, all of their previous profiles will be visible; therefore, if you previously did not have a children's history, you will not have one now, either.

This year, streaming services have increased their pricing and prioritized plans that include advertisements, as the reduced prices appeal to customers, and the advertising revenue compensates the companies for the reduced expenses.
