Intel Corporation has appointed Justin Hotard as the new executive vice president and general manager of its Data Center and AI Group (DCAI), starting Feb. 1.

Hotard brings over 20 years of experience transforming and growing computing and data center businesses. He is recognized for his expertise in developing large-scale AI systems for businesses.

Justin Hotard's New Role at Intel: Leading the Charge in Data Center and AI

Justin Hotard has been responsible for advancing Intel's data center business, including promoting products like the Xeon processors. His role is crucial as Intel aims to recover its market position, which has been challenged by competitors AMD and Nvidia.

Additionally, Hotard will focus on enhancing Intel's footprint in the artificial intelligence sector, highlighted by the recent showcase of Intel's Gaudi3 AI accelerator.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger praised Justin Hotard's appointment, highlighting his effective leadership and customer-focused approach. "Justin is a proven leader with a customer-first mindset and has an impressive track record in driving growth and innovation in the data center and AI," Gelsinger stated.

He further emphasized Hotard's dedication to Intel's mission of developing transformative technologies and his passion for Intel's long-term role in supporting their customers.

Justin Hotard's Extensive Background Before Joining Intel

Before his new role at Intel, Justin Hotard had an impressive career at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).

As the executive vice president and general manager of High-Performance Computing, AI, and Labs, Hotard was crucial in delivering advanced AI solutions to clients, tackling some of the most challenging global issues with data-heavy tasks. He also led Hewlett Packard Labs, the company's central research hub.

Hotard's experience extends beyond HPE. He joined the company in 2015 after serving as president of NCR Small Business and holding various roles at Symbol Technologies and Motorola Inc.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Justin Hotard takes over from Sandra Rivera, who, on Jan. 1, stepped into the role of CEO of the Programmable Solutions Group, a separate entity within Intel.
