New Lady Gaga news says Cher expressed her support for Lady Gaga album "Cheek to Cheek" with legendary musician Tony Bennett.
According to Cover Media, Cher acknowledges the duo's collaboration to be an "exceptional piece of work".
The Grammy award-winning singer shared her support for Lady Gaga and urged her 42 million Twitter followers to do the same for the collaborative album.
She posted on her account over the weekend: "Hey give a listen 2 #CheektoCheek ITS REALLY AN EXCEPTIONAL PIECE OF WORK!" she wrote, gushing: "Its Beyond Unique.Listen With open Mind,Ears & U Wont B Sorry (sic)."
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga responded: "@cher wow, you're really a special person. I'm blown away by your support. You are one to truly look up to. A Star From the Inside Out"
In 2007, Lady Gaga and RedOne wrote a song entitled "The Greatest Thing", which should have been Cher and Lady Gaga duet, according Gagapedia.
In 2011, RedOne described the song as "timeless. The beautiful thing about this song is, it's very uplifting, very uplifting. It's emotional, but it has dance on it, and it has a dance vibe on it. It's just a timeless song. You can play it with the guitar, the piano, with whatever instrument you want. You can sing it a acapella, you know what I mean, it's that kind of song."
The song should be included in Cher's "Closer to the Truth" album, but the song did not make it to the final cut as Gaga was not happy with the final product, according to Cover Media.
While other fans see them as rivals, Cher explained the importance of supporting other artists.
"I don't like it when all the Little Monsters [Lady Gaga fans] come down on me, I think young artists don't realise that you have to support one another and there no room for b***hing. Women stand together and so do artists. You might fight if you don't like someone but you still have to support them," she previously said.
Through Twitter, fellow artist Britney Spears also expressed her support for and congratulated Lady Gaga on her "Cheek to Cheek" album.
"@ladygaga 'Cheek To Cheek' is a jazzy delight!! You &@itstonybennett are a musical match!https://smarturl.it/CheekToCheekSd," the "Crazy" singer said.
