California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), a well-known fast-food chain, has permanently closed one of its cherished Bay Area locations.

This quiet shutdown has left many customers deeply saddened by the news.

California Pizza Kitchen Shuts Down Roseville Mall Branch

In a surprising move, California Pizza Kitchen has permanently closed its branch at the Fountains at Roseville Mall, roughly 20 miles north of Sacramento.

The restaurant's closure at 1190 Roseville Parkway was confirmed by an automated message on the branch's phone line, as reported by The Sacramento Bee.

The message thanked the Roseville community for their support over the years: "We've loved serving our Roseville community, and thank you for your patronage." Patrons looking to enjoy California Pizza Kitchen's offerings are now directed to visit their nearest location at Arden Fair Mall.

California Pizza Kitchen, a renowned global restaurant chain, filed for bankruptcy in 2020, signaling potential closures for its numerous outlets worldwide.

Efforts to reach representatives from the Costa Mesa-based chain for comments on the situation were unsuccessful. Founded in 1985 by ex-federal prosecutors Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax in Beverly Hills, California, Pizza Kitchen has grown into a well-known brand, as detailed on the company's official website.

The founders of California Pizza Kitchen, united by their love for quality food, pioneered unique culinary offerings. They introduced groundbreaking items such as the barbecue chicken pizza, health-conscious choices like gluten-free and cauliflower crust pizzas, and wholesome grain bowls. Their innovative approach has become a defining characteristic of the chain's menu.

Several patrons took to Facebook to express their feelings about California Pizza Kitchen's Roseville location closure at the Fountains. One user reminisced, "Tonight, we say goodbye to one of our favorite restaurant locations, CPK Roseville at the Fountains." They fondly recalled events such as Santa's Pizza Parties, Dr. Hearts Pizza Parties, and numerous fundraisers.

A former staff member, who was part of the opening management team in 2008, also shared their sentiment on the same post, saying, "So sad to hear this." This closure has left a lasting impact on customers and former employees.

After four decades, California Pizza Kitchen boasts a menu with choices beyond its signature pizzas. Patrons can enjoy a variety of appetizers, salads, soups, pasta dishes, burgers, sandwiches, and desserts.

Among the house specialties are The Original BBQ Chicken Pizza, featuring smoked gouda and cilantro, the Hand-Shaken Espresso Martini made with vodka and cold brew, and the Shaking Beef Pasta, delightfully tossed in garlic and sesame soy sauce.

The sole California Pizza Kitchen in the Sacramento area, located at 1735 Arden Way in Arden Fair, presents an extensive selection of drinks. This includes a variety of cocktails and mocktails, margaritas, sangrias, and mules, as well as a choice of wines (available by the glass or bottle) and beers.

Open seven days a week, the restaurant welcomes customers from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and extends its hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
