Mac and Deb McNally, owners of the Wakarusa Dime Store, might not have invented a time machine, but they're offering something almost as magical. Their store, a nostalgic homage to classic candy shops, is a treasure trove of sweet memories for visitors.

Situated in Granger, Indiana, the store features over 450 types of candy, many evoking a sense of yesteryear. Mac McNally shares how customers often feel transported to their childhood upon seeing these familiar treats. "It's like a step back in time," he says, describing the delight and laughter of patrons as they browse the collection.

This store, captured in photos by Craig Haupert, has a rich history dating back to 1907. Established in Wakarusa, Indiana, it's famed for its jumbo jelly beans, introduced in 1969. Originally only in black licorice flavor, the variety has since expanded, with the store selling over 75 tons globally each year.

The McNallys, who took ownership in the mid-1990s, have maintained the charm and appeal of the store. They offer rare candies like Black Cow and Zagnut, ensuring a unique experience for visitors.

Despite economic challenges, the store thrives, proving the enduring appeal of candy as a simple, affordable luxury. The Wakarusa Dime Store remains a beloved destination, where every visit is a sweet journey down memory lane.
