The popular store will close all its locations for one day later this month. This rare 24-hour break is planned so employees can enjoy a holiday celebration.

HomeGoods Stores Shut for Easter Holiday

More than 900 HomeGoods stores across America will close on March 31. This day falls on Easter Sunday, and the company is happy to give its employees a break to spend time with their loved ones.

A company spokesperson shared with The U.S. Sun, "We see ourselves as a company that cares about its workers. We're happy to allow our team to celebrate Easter with family and friends."

HomeGoods, which operates in many states, appreciates the hard work of its employees.

According to the company's website, California boasts 100 HomeGoods locations, while Texas has over 70. There are more than 50 stores in New York, and New Jersey has 45.

HomeGoods is part of the larger TJX family, including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra, and Homesense.

All these stores, not just HomeGoods, will take a break on the last day of March.

Retail giants plan to welcome shoppers back on April 1, following a day off on Easter Sunday, as decided by the heads of many major stores.

In response to the turbulent start of this decade, many retailers have made significant changes to serve customers better and treat employees well. This shift aims to keep a strong workforce and adapt to changing shopping habits, with more people buying online and reducing pressure on physical stores.

This adjustment has allowed employees to have more time for themselves.

Significant changes have been noticed in how big retailers manage their operations, especially regarding holiday hours. For instance, Walmart recently announced it would close its stores on Thanksgiving, allowing employees more time with their families during the holiday season.

Walmart's U.S. CEO, John Furner, expressed his enthusiasm about the decision, emphasizing the importance of Thanksgiving as a special day for employees to enjoy at home with family and friends.

Following Walmart's lead, other retailers like Costco, Aldi, and Target have decided to close their doors on Easter Sunday, March 31. The TJX Companies, which include HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls, will also join this initiative by closing during the holiday.

While Walmart decided to close on Thanksgiving, it plans to stay open for Easter, offering shopping opportunities to those who observe the day differently.

Here's a look at some of the stores closing for Easter 2024, demonstrating a broader industry trend towards respecting employees' needs and adapting to new consumer behaviors: Target, Costco, Aldi, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Publix, Macy's, Best Buy, Apple, and ACE Hardware.

Bank Hours Adjust for Easter Sunday

Some local bank branches nationwide will take a break this Easter, which lands on a Sunday this year.

JPMorgan Chase, usually open on Sundays, will close its doors on Easter, the bank confirmed with USA TODAY.

Capital One also shared its Easter schedule, noting regular Good Friday and Easter hours for most locations. However, three Capital One Cafés located in shopping malls will shut for the holiday:

  • Stonebriar Centre, Frisco, Texas
  • Westfield UTC, San Diego, California
  • Victoria Gardens, Rancho Cucamonga, California

Wells Fargo, known for some Sunday operations, will keep its Sunday branches open on March 31. While Bank of America, traditionally closed on Sundays, will continue this practice on Easter, staying closed as usual.
