Dakota Fanning is breaking her silence on British model boyfriend Jamie Strachan, who is 13 years her senior.
Fanning said in British newspaper The Times, "I think love is very important and it's really fun to have someone to experience things with. It makes everything a bit more special."
She added, "People love who they love and you go with that. People get so stuck in rules for life. You go with what feels right."
The big age gap is not an issue for Fanning. In fact, she claims that her parents' relationship was something that she also wanted. Her parents met when they were seven and have been married for 25 long years. According to the actress, "I've seen how wonderful it is to have parents who have experienced pretty much everything together."
Fanning added that, "I don't really date. I have a weird vision of relationships because my parents have known each other since second grade, and they got married right out of college. I've always thought that's what it's supposed to be like, and if it's not, then I don't want to waste my time on it. Even when I was 14, I was like, 'I'm not gonna marry this person. What's the point of doing it?' It's not me being naive. I just know what it's supposed to be like. And I think until I feel that, I cannot be bothered."
Dakota Fanning, 20, is an American actress who rose to prominence after her outstanding performance at age seven in the 2001 film I Am Sam where she earned a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award the year after. She continued her career, appearing in numerous movies over the years.
Fanning began dating Strachan in 2013. Strachan, 33, was born in Bristol, England and had signed with a modeling agency at the age of 22. He appeared in several ad campaigns and walked the runway for various designers. Prior to Fanning, Strachan dated Namibian model Behati Prinsloo, current wife of Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, from 2005 to 2012.
