A-list superstar Johnny Depp throws in another timeless character in the upcoming "Mortdecai" movie set for release next year. Cast and release date updates have also been revealed online, and fans are anxious to see another Depp character come to life.
"Mortdecai" is a book series written by Kryil Bonfiglioli during the 1970s. The comic thriller appears in four parts, "Don't Point that Thing at Me," "After You with a Pistol", "Something Nasty in the Woodshed" and "The Great Moustache Mystery."
Early this year, news that Johnny Depp has been eyeing the role for the film adaptation "Mortdecai" has surfaced online.
The 51-year-old award winning actor Johnny Depp is known for his portrayal of numerous memorable characters in the likes of Captain Jack Sparrow in "The Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, Edward in "Edward Scissorhands" (1990), Icabod Crane in "Sleepy Hollow" (1999), Willy Wonka in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005) and the Mad Hatter in "Alice in Wonderland" (2010).
According to Firstshowing.net, the official synopsis of Johnny Depp's "Mortdecai" (cast and release date) reads, "Hon. Charlie Mortdecai from adventure to misadventure via Jersey and Moscow to a final showdown in a Buckinghamshire bungalow of unparalleled hideousness. Tackling en route an unhealthy sprinkling of well-seasoned academics, a cryptic monk, an aristocratic Chief Constable, and more spies that you could shoehorn into a black stretch limo, Mordecai finds himself embroiled in another mission of international insecurity."
Johnny Depp's "Mortdecai" cast members include Ewan McGregor, Aubrey Plaza, Olivia Munn, Jeff Goldblum, Oliver Platt, Ulrich Thomsen, Gwyneth Paltrow and Paul Betthany.
In an interview with Collider.com, Olive Munn talks about Johnny Depp and the "Mortdecai" cast and release date. She shares, "That's such a fun movie. It's an art heist comedy with Johnny [Depp] and Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregory. Working with Johnny is so much fun because he is so much this character and it is so much fun to play opposite him."
As Johnny Depp "Mortdecai" cast are revealed, release date has been officially bumped up from an initial February 6, 2015 to January 23, 2015.
