He was drafted in the 2007 NFL draft buy the Vikings seventh overall.According to the paperwork filed which was signed by Bill Delmore, the Assistant District Attorney for the state of Texas, the Viking's running back admitted to the worker that he had "smoked a little weed" before the urinalysis exam. When out on a bond, one of the common terms in not taking any illegal drugs.

The District attorney's office said, "In light of this statement, and the fact that it was made during the urinalysis testing process, and the term 'weed' is a common slang term for marijuana, the state argues that the defendant has smoked marijuana while on bond.''

Peterson was recently indicted last month by the grand jury of Montgomery County, Texas on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child, which occurred May this year. He was free on a bond worth $15,000 and his trial will begin on December.
