[WATCH] ‘Rocket League’ Xbox One Release On Feb 2016! Psyonix Promises ‘Aggressive’ DLC Support

It took quite a while but it's finally happening. Psyonix announced "Rocket League" will release for the Xbox One on Feb. 2016.

Xbox Wire first broke the news last week. When "Rocket League" comes to the Xbox One, it will reportedly already have three content packs - "Supersonic Fury," "Revenge of the Battle-Cars" and "Chaos Run" - bundled in.

On launch day itself, players will be able to buy the "Back to the Future" DeLorean DLC released back in Oct.

But "Rocket League's" Xbox One version won't simply borrow content from its PS4 and PC counterparts. Reportedly, the game will come with exclusive battle-cars in the form of "Halo's" "Hogsticker," an alternate version of the Warthog, and the "Armadillo" from "Gears of War."

Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham revealed they had previously worked on the "Burnt Rubber" stage for "Gears of War" on the Xbox 360. Also, much of their team are apparently fans of "Halo."

"It was great to be able to go back to our roots and pay homage to one of the games that got us started," Dunham said.

Launched earlier this year in July, "Rocket League" has become a huge success racking up 1.2 million players within 48 hours of its debut.

As such, many wondered for a long time when Psyonix will bring its hit game to Microsoft's gaming console.

"We're looking at all kinds of platforms and there may be some announcements coming up at some point - hopefully by the end of the year - but I can't confirm that," Psyonix CEO and studio director Dave Hagewood said last month, as reported by Franchise Herald.

The studio also announced SteamOS and Mac ports for "Rocket League" back in Aug.

As for the Xbox One version, Gamespot said it will get as much updates as the PS4 and PC versions.

"You can also expect lots of updates to the game," Psyonix said, as quoted by the website. "'Rocket League' has received 10 major updates since its original launch earlier this year, and Psyonix plans on aggressively supporting the Xbox One version, with free downloadable arenas and more DLC packs."
