[WATCH] ‘Rocket League’ Gets A DeLorean With ‘Back To The Future’ DLC Set For Oct 21 Release

"Back to the Future's" iconic time-travelling DeLorean is making its way to "Rocket League" via DLC. It's set for release on Oct. 21.

"The upcoming 'Back to the Future' Car Pack adds the DeLorean Time Machine as a playable Battle-Car, complete with folding jet-wheels and a 'Burnt Rubber' rocket trail that emulates the time-travel seen in the 'Back to the Future' film trilogy," DigitalTrends said.

Apparently, the addition of the iconic time machine has been a long-time goal of developer Psyonix apart from "Rocket League" becoming a huge success, of course. As VP of marketing Jeremy Dunham admitted, they're all fans of the "Back to the Future" films.

"The fact that we're getting both of those 'best-case scenarios' in the same year is an amazing accomplishment for us, they're things we'll never forget!" Dunham said via PlayStation Blog.

Even the upcoming "Rocket League" DLC's release date carries meaning. As Psyonix pointed out, Oct. 21 is the same day Doc and Marty travelled to in "Back to the Future, Part II."

They didn't say what happens when you hit 88 miles per hour in the game though.

The time-travelling DeLorean will be available as downloadable content for $1.99 on that day for both the PC and PS4 versions of "Rocket League," according to DT.

Check it out the teaser below:

The "Back to the Future Car Pack" follows the "Revenge of the Battle-Cars" DLC Pack released earlier this week. That update brought new battle-cars - Zippy and Scarab - which were in "Rocket League's" forerunner "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars."

As Franchise Herald previously reported, the DLC also brings with new in-game content. This is in addition to a free update which brought new map variants - Utopia Coliseum (Dusk) and Urban Station (Night). Psyonix also said that they'll introduce arenas with "unusual" layouts going forward.

Other "Rocket League" DLCs to watch out for are this year's Halloween unlockables as well as an "Oddworld"-themed DLC set for release later this year.
