A popular Starbucks location at the busy intersection of Hanley Road and Wydown Boulevard in Clayton, which closed its doors in 2021, is poised for a comeback.

Doug Holtzman, the landlord of the property and a representative of STLCRE, a commercial real estate development company, has announced plans for the store's revival. The coffee shop, formerly managed directly by Starbucks, is expected to reopen under a franchise model.

Clayton Corner Starbucks: Plans for Reopening

The vacant coffee shop at Clayton Corner, still leased to Starbucks, might reopen soon. Doug Holtzman, the landlord, informed that Starbucks, who decided to close the shop, is now considering buying out the lease. This move could pave the way for a new, franchised Starbucks at the location.

Holtzman expressed optimism about reopening the store early this summer or fall. The site's previous operation as a Starbucks is a plus, as the zoning is already suitable for the coffee shop. Holtzman anticipates a smooth approval process and expects the local community to support the coffee shop's return.

Starbucks, a favorite among coffee enthusiasts, is known for its widespread presence, boasting about 16,000 stores across the U.S. This makes it seem like there's a Starbucks on every corner.

Starbucks' Innovation

Starbucks isn't just relying on its convenient locations to draw in customers. The global coffee chain is experimenting with new concepts and continually improving its customer experience.

Much of this innovative drive is credited to Laxman Narasimhan, who became the CEO in 2023. Under his leadership, Starbucks is a constantly evolving brand, not just a nearby coffee spot.

Starbucks is revolutionizing its coffee-making process by introducing the Siren System in its stores. This new system aims to streamline coffee preparation, significantly easing the workload of baristas, especially during peak hours.

By 2026, the company anticipates that 40% of its stores will be equipped with these advanced systems. Key features of the Siren System include a specialized ice dispenser, an efficient milk-dispensing system, and faster blenders, all conveniently positioned for barista access.

Starbucks reports that these enhancements are expected to dramatically reduce the average order time - from 87 seconds and 16 steps to just 36 seconds and 13 steps. This notable improvement in efficiency is likely to be felt quickly by both staff and customers.

Starbucks Enhances Customer Experience with Accessible Cafes

Starbucks is not only focusing on easing the workload of its baristas but is also committed to enhancing the in-store experience for customers. Recently, the company opened a new café in the Union Market area of Washington, D.C., specifically designed with accessibility in mind.

This new store reflects Starbucks' dedication to fostering a sense of connection and inclusivity.

A Starbucks spokesperson highlighted that these thoughtfully designed stores are part of a broader strategy to create welcoming environments for all customers and staff. This initiative goes hand in hand with the company's ongoing expansion.

Starbucks, the largest coffee chain globally, aims to grow by 4% in the U.S. this year, translating to approximately 600 new stores. Each of these new locations will feature the latest accessibility enhancements.
