Taco Bell launched a new mobile ordering and payment app for drive-thru and dine-in orders on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The chain reportedly made history as it is the first Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) to have acquired this technology.

The new Taco Bell mobile ordering app can be downloaded for free from the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

It allows users complete access to every Taco Bell ingredient to customize their order whatever way they want it, when they want it-all in the convenience of their own smartphones.

The new app boasts of many features aside from mobile ordering that enables taco Bell fans to experience a whole new level of the restaurant chain. Users get to view and choose ingredients to personalize their order, they can also securely pay their order and pick it up easily through a drive-thru or a separate line in the store-hassle-free!

Furthermore, Taco Bell is also the first chain to provide "Rotate to Reorder" feature that allows users to order restaurant favorites "as easy as a flick of the wrist."

"Decades ago, your car keys were the ticket to convenience at the drive-thru. Today as food culture changes and generations grow up with smart phones, our customers seek restaurant experiences that fit their lifestyle," said Brian Niccol, president, Taco Bell Corp.

"We believe mobile ordering and payment is the biggest innovation since the drive-thru. Our new mobile ordering app is just the beginning of how we're using technology to break down the walls of our restaurants and become more transparent with our customers about our food," Niccol added.

The app further exemplifies Taco Bell's goal to become better and more relevant to its customers. Right now, Taco Bell plans to double its revenue to $14 billion and expand to 2,000 locations over the span of eight years.

"We began this journey two years ago because we knew it was important to listen and know exactly what the consumer wants in a mobile experience," stated Tressie Lieberman, senior director, digital marketing and platforms, Taco Bell Corp

. "The Taco Bell mobile ordering app delivers location based ordering, a secure payment system and personalization - all while unlocking the Taco Bell kitchen and ingredients like never before. These features are just the beginning. We'll continue to listen to our community and evolve the app to meet their needs in a way only Taco Bell can," Lieberman continued.
