Spider-Man Should Have Been Included In ‘The Avengers: Age Of Ultron’! Joss Whedon Also Wanted Captain Marvel In The Sequel! ‘But Neither Of The Deals Were Made’

A few months ago, there were rumors that Spider-Man will make a cameo in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

However, there weren't any sightings of the web-slinging superhero in the sequel which left many fans disappointed. But they will surely feel more disappointed once they find out that Peter Parker was supposed to be included in the movie.

During an interview with Empire Film Podcast, Joss Whedon revealed that he had big plans to involve Spider-Man in "The Avengers 2" as well as other characters including Captain Marvel. Sony and Marvel only confirmed their tie-up back in February when they have already finished filming the sequel.

Cinema Blend also reported that the negotiations between the two studios already started around the time that they released the first "Avengers" movie, but it took years before Sony and Marvel finalized their deal which means that it's too late for Joss Whedon to include them.

"I was like, 'And Spider-Man, we could [include him in Avengers 2 also], cause Sony had approached us during the first movie about a little integration. So I would have put both [Captain Marvel and Spider-Man] in, but neither of the deals were made," the 50-year-old director explained.

"And then they were like, 'We're making a Captain Marvel movie and we've got Spider-Man as a property,' and I'm like, 'I've already locked my film, you fuckers! Thanks for nothing." Whedon added. In a separate interview with MTV News (via Cinema Blend), Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed the reason why they didn't include Captain Marvel in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"We didn't want to introduce her fully-formed flying in a costume before you got to know who she was and how she came to be," Feige explained. Based on what Marvel's head honcho said, Captain Marvel may debut in her solo movie on November 2, 2018.

Spider-Man fans, on the other hand, wouldn't have to wait until July 28, 2017 to see their favorite superhero. Peter Parker will appear in "Captain America: Civil War" alongside Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) on May 6, 2016.
