Although "Sherlock" stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman won't be joining the San Diego Comic Con this weekend, BBC made sure to remind fans that they are still on board with season four and the upcoming Christmas special!

In fact, BBC One's official Twitter page uploaded a "special image" of Cumberbatch and Martin in Victorian-era garb! The photo, most likely, is for the Christmas episode that producers promised to give fans soon.

Reports still vary for the any of the show's releases. The special episode will reportedly be airing later this year, although no specific release date has been reported. Perhaps it would be announced during Comic Con.

"Shut up everybody, shut up! Don't move, don't speak, don't breathe. A new #Sherlock Special image has landed..." the photo's caption says, featuring Cumberbatch as the legendary detective sitting on his famed chair with Freeman leaning on the arm of the seat. The good doctor is also sporting a mustache.

Showrunner Stephen Moffat previously confirmed reports that the special episode will feature "Sherlock" stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman working a case in the original timeline of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories.

He also clarified that it will be disconnected from previous seasons, pointing out that the episode is "its own thing."

"(Co-creator) Mark Gatiss and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be a separate entity on its own. It's kind of in its own little bubble," the producer previously revealed.

Meanwhile, BBC One's photo of "Sherlock" stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman was posted ahead of the show's panel appearance at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend.

Fans will get to ask executive producers Moffat, Sue Vertue as well as Rupert Graves, who plays Greg Lestrade, questions about the highly anticipated fourth season as well as the upcoming Christmas special.
