In the weeks leading up to its expected September launch, iPhone 6s leaked images paint a telling picture on what to expect for Apple's next-gen flagship device. As with "s" updates of yore, this year's model will retain the looks of the last one but pack more powerful hardware.

Serial leakster NowhereElse.fr struck again when it posted what is allegedly the iPhone 6s' front panel. See it for yourself below courtesy of Pocket Now:

If you think it looks familiar, you're not entirely wrong.

"And while the phone should get an SoC bump and some other hardware upgrades, the fact that this front panel is the spitting image of the current iPhone 6 panel isn't anything unexpected," Pocket Now said.

According to the website though, NowhereElse's sources did not confirm what material the panel is made of nor were there traces of Force Touch technology on it.

Some may question whether these iPhone 6s leaked images are truly legit but Forbes thinks they are considering "the site has a solid track record" of posting "spot on" photos of upcoming smartphones.

Earlier this month, 9to5 Mac also posted leaked images which point to numerous internal changes for the iPhone 6 successor.

The website, together with other tech companies, analyzed the images showing an alleged prototype of the Cupertino's upcoming smartphone and came to the following conclusion:

"The next iPhone will likely include updated NFC hardware, fewer and more efficient chips, and new flash memory that may nonetheless remains at a 16GB minimum capacity."

Of course a newer report claimed that Apple may ditch the 16GB model in favor of a 32GB model as the iPhone 6s base model.

Other rumored specs for the next iPhone are an improved front camera, a stronger aluminum chassis as a solution to the "Bendgate" controversy, 12MP main camera and 2GB of RAM.

Still, many believe these specs and the familiar design the iPhone 6s leaked images point to will give Cupertino another hit. Apple reportedly expects to ship up to 90 million units of the upcoming device, expected to roll out in September.
