Tesla 2024: Expansion with New Facility Near Gigafactory

Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle company led by Elon Musk, has recently secured a new facility in Hutto, located approximately 20 miles from Williamson County.

The City of Hutto's Director of Development Services has confirmed to CBS Austin that Tesla submitted plans in late December for renovations within an existing industrial building at 200 County Road 199, Hutto, TX 78634.

Spanning 35,000 square feet, this facility is about 25 miles north of Tesla's gigafactory and was previously used by the JRS Company. As noted by Bailey in an interview with CBS Austin, this move is part of a growing trend of significant technological investments in the Hutto area and its surroundings, marking it as a key hub for future-oriented development.

Samsung Electronics has announced a new collaboration with Tesla, which is set to be unveiled at CES 2024. This partnership integrates Samsung's SmartThings Energy with various Tesla products, including the Powerwall home battery, Solar inverters, Wall Connector charging solutions, and electric vehicles.

Enabled by Tesla's open APIs, this collaboration extends the reach of SmartThings Energy, enhancing its connectivity capabilities and advancing Samsung's vision of creating more efficient and seamless home experiences for users.

Chanwoo Park, EVP and Head of the IoT Development Team at Samsung Electronics, shared that Tesla Energy customers will now have the added convenience of managing and monitoring their home's power status through SmartThings Energy and Samsung devices, along with the Tesla app.

This initiative marks a significant step for Samsung Electronics in expanding the availability of its intelligent solutions beyond traditional home appliances.

Samsung's partnership with Tesla introduces a significant advantage for consumers using SmartThings Energy. This collaboration enables SmartThings Energy to connect with Tesla's Powerwall, Solar inverters, Wall Connector charging systems, and electric vehicles.

As a result, users can now easily access detailed information about their energy production, storage, and consumption through SmartThings Energy.

Furthermore, this integration offers enhanced preparedness for power disruptions and outages. SmartThings Energy can synchronize with the Tesla app's Powerwall "Storm Watch" feature. In extreme weather conditions, such as typhoons or heavy snowfall, users will receive alerts on their connected Samsung TVs and mobile devices and through the Tesla app.

Additionally, they can activate the AI Energy Mode before and during power outages. This feature helps extend the life of the backup energy stored in Tesla Powerwall, ensuring continued power availability during critical times.
