Apple Of China Does It Again! Xiaomi Redmi 1S Sold Out In Minutes! 100,000 Units Sold In India Flash Sale

Following its 6th flash sale on Flipkart in October 14, all 100,000 smartphone units of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S were sold out minutes after the online sale commenced. Those who registered early to participate in the online flash sale were not guaranteed of a unit due to the increase of demand for the gadget. It has been announced that another round of flash sale will happen on October 21 where the Chinese tech giant will release another 100,000 Redmi 1S units.

The smartphone has become one of the most in-demand mobile phones to date, as 150,000 units were sold by its exclusive distributor, Flipkart, during its Big Billion Day Sale last October 6. According to the online retailer, they received as many as 300,000 pre-order registrations for Refmi 1S alone.

More than being an economical phone which costs only USD100 (£60; Rs5,999), the device has great features that include 4.7in IPS display, runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating platform, and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor along with a 1GB RAM. Redmi 1S also showcases an 8MP primary camera and a 1.6MP secondary camera. The device also provides users of an 8GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via an external microSD card. Moreover, A 2,000 mAh battery powers the entire Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone.

Xiaomi smartphones have made a mark in the Indian market from the time the "Apple of China" has released its products in the country the past months. They have been giving their competitors such as Samsung, Motorola, and even Apple, a run for their money because of their super affordable phones but with premium quality. They are on the right track having targeted the Indian market as the latter is reportedly the fastest growing smartphone market globally according to research firm International Data Corporation (India).
