Charles Loflin - Pizza Patrón

Two decades ago, a pivotal meeting between Loflin and Antonio Swad, the founder of Pizza Patrón and Wingstop, set Loflin on franchise ownership. His first Wingstop outlet in San Antonio quickly proved to be a hit, leading him to open additional franchises. Today, he owns an impressive 70 Wingstop locations across the Southwest.

Not stopping there, Loflin also ventured into Pizza Patrón, adding several outlets to his growing business empire. His success with these franchises led him to an ambitious move: acquiring the entire Pizza Patrón brand from Swad. 

Now at the helm of Pizza Patrón and the 70 Wingstop locations, Loflin plans to expand these brands further. He aims to introduce new technology and an app to enhance the customer experience at Pizza Patrón.

Craig Burton - Fibrenew

Craig Burton's journey to success and work-life balance began with his decision to join Fibrenew as a franchisee. Having navigated three jobs in just five years, Burton searched for a career offering stability and a sense of commitment. He found this in the franchise specializing in repairing leather, vinyl, and upholstery.

Burton received extensive support from Fibrenew's main office, which included ongoing workshops and seminars. Additionally, he built a strong network with other franchisees, who were always ready to offer advice or answer any questions he had. 

This venture not only secured a consistent income for Burton but also allowed him the flexibility to spend more quality time with his wife and two daughters, creating a harmonious balance between his professional and personal life.

Linda Ekendahl - Edible Arrangements

Franchisors often set strict guidelines to ensure their brand remains consistent and their businesses succeed with a certain quality standard. Yet, this doesn't permanently restrict franchisees from making their own decisions.

Take Linda Ekendahl's experience with her Edible Arrangements franchise, which she opened in 2004. Initially situated in a small strip mall, the space was too cramped for her staff. The franchise rules dictated that each outlet should be in a shopping center to benefit from foot traffic. 

However, Ekendahl spotted an opportunity downtown where the landlord was willing to assist with the setup costs. She managed to persuade the franchisor to let her relocate by showcasing the potential of the new site, including pictures of neighboring businesses and the busy streets. This bold move paid off. Years later, Ekendahl operates from a location nearly double the size of the original, enjoying a thriving business with ample space.

Andy Patel - International House of Pancakes

Andy Patel's story is a shining example of the American Dream realized through franchising. After moving to the US, his first job was managing a Wendy's restaurant. Patel saved diligently and later invested in a struggling IHOP. His leadership revitalized the diner, earning him the title IHOP Franchisee of the Year twice.

Patel didn't stop there. He expanded his portfolio within IHOP and later took on an Applebee's franchise. Impressively, he boosted its sales by double digits within just three months. By 2017, Patel's remarkable success in franchising was recognized when he received the Apple Investors Group MVP American Dream Award. 

At that point, he was the proud owner of a diverse range of franchises: 63 Applebee's, 38 IHOPs, 24 Burger Kings, eight Pizza Huts, and three Travelodge.

Dave Chantrell - The Melting Pot

A deep understanding of a business is often vital to franchise success, as demonstrated by Dave Chantrell's journey. While attending the University of Virginia, Chantrell worked as a server at the Melting Pot, gaining invaluable insights into the franchise's culture and the roles of each staff member in creating an unforgettable dining experience.
