'Orphan Black' Season 3 Premiere Boost!! Tatiana Maslany Wins Award Before Show Airs New Pilot Episode
“Orphan Black” season 3 premiere episode is yet to be aired but the BBC America show is already making positive noise. On Feb. 20, lead star Tatiana Maslany, who plays at least seven different characters/clones in the TV series, won the Outstanding Female Performance at the Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists awards (ACTRA). This is the second award received by Maslany from the organization. Her first was for her role as Claire in the comedy film Picture Day. ACTRA award is a great source of publicity ahead of the “Orphan Black" season 3 premiere on April 18. The sci-fi series about female clones is not getting the attention it deserves. In fact, some of its fans believe that Maslany was snubbed in the latest Emmy Awards.“The performers honoured tonight make us proud to be Canadian. They show off Canada to Canada and to the rest of the world in all its marvellous diversity. And they do it with unique and outstanding talent,” said David Sparrow, president of ACTRA Toronto.Aside from Maslany’s victory, another great boost the show received is the announcement of AMC that it will simultaneously air “Orphan Black” season 3 premiere episode across all its networks. These are BBC America, where the show originated, AMC, SundanceTV, IFC and We TV. "‘Orphan Black’ is a truly outstanding original series that has attracted consistent and widespread critical acclaim as well as a considerable, growing following from viewers,” said AMC Networks chief operating officer Ed Carroll regarding their announcement about the “Orphan Black” season 3 premiere night. “AMC Networks is a channel group known for high-quality storytelling and creating a premiere television event for ‘Orphan Black’ is a perfect opportunity to use our programming assets to help extend the reach of this quality series.”"Orphan Black" season 3 premiere will introduce more about the male clones which were first revealed in the season 2 finale. The mission of these Castor clones, to be played by Ari Millen who already appeared in the show as Mark, is to wipe their female counterparts.
