"Rock Band 4" PS4 release date could finally happen this year.

It has been five long years since Harmonix released a new "Rock Band" game, and now the gaming company is reportedly asking fans to collaborate with them.

A voting poll has been posted on game developer's website where everyone is asked to request for songs that could be included in "Rock Band 4."

The site however, inculded a disclaimer to those who participated in the voting poll.

While "Rock Band 4" has no official release date yet, it is expected to hit the shelves sometime this year following the developments of the game.

"This page does not guarantee that a request will make it into the game. We can't promise anything, but we will read every request to get a better understanding of what the community most wants to see in Rock Band!"

The poll is meant to give everyone a chance to request what songs they would want to play in the guitars and drums; songs that they could also sing along to when "Rock Band 4" is released.

While the gaming developer is determined to bring something new to the fans, Harmonix COO Alex Rigopulos said in an interview with IGN that "Rock Band 4" will not deviate its gameplay from the rest of the title's prequel.

"There is an existing gameplay core that is very powerful and very fun, and we don't want to tamper with that core," the co-founder said. "At the same time, we need to bring something new to the experience."

"None of the games in the genre really delivered a lot of innovation, or maybe the right kind of innovation in the experience during that period," Rigopulos said. "Consumers want something new. We view it as a responsibility to deliver that innovation this time around."

"Harmonix is working tirelessly to ensure that gamers can make use of legacy music and DLC that they purchased last time around and so [too], we are doing all we can to try and make last-gen hardware compatible with Rock Band 4."

In addition, Harmonix announced that the previous intruments used from the past games are also compatible with the new "Rock Band 4" come its release date, noting that the company is aiming to give the gamers the same feel with a twist in the gaming experience.
