Galaxy s4 Release Date: Android 4.4 KitKat Update Leaked

Jan 28, 2014 12:10 PM EST | By Staff Writer

A new leak has revealed a bit more about the Samsung Galaxy s4 Android. It turns out that AT&T is hard at work on the Galaxy s4 Android 4.4 KitKat update. While the update still remains unreleased, it's rumored to either be launched in February or March, according to GottaBeMobile.

Samsung fans have been waiting quite a while for the KitKat update for their devices. The Android version came out months ago, so it's only a matter of time before Samsung releases KitKat updates for all of its products. In fact, the Galaxy Note 3 is already getting the update in some regions, according to Android and Me.

The current leak, from designgears, doesn't confirm the specific release date. Yet the build appears to be an early one, so it's probably not the version of Android 4.4 KitKat that will eventually be released to the public, according to GottaBeMobile. In fact, most are encouraged to avoid the update, particularly due to a bug that prevents video playback. Even those who are adept at installing official but unofficial software may want to proceed with caution.

With that said, the emergence of these leaked builds means that it's likely that the official updates will be released soon. While the builds aren't final, they're in a near-finished form, according to Android and Me.

In case you want to actually try the leaks, you can access it from this link. That said, bugs are still prevalent and it's possible that you may be left with an inoperable device.
