Sprint customers now have access to the mobile carriers pre-paid plans a press release on the company's website reported Friday.

"Our goal is to respond to customers' shifting demands by featuring a variety of wireless plans that meet different needs," Jeff Hallock chief marketing officer at Sprint said in a statement. "This new Sprint Prepaid offer allows us to play more competitively in the monthly prepaid space. Prepaid plans are a viable solution for many consumers, and we're now making these available to people who have an affinity for the Sprint brand, are looking for savings, and desire no-contract options without compromise," Hallock said in the statement.

The plans allow customers to dictate how much they want to pay monthly for their mobile phone service, and fork up money for a smartphone or other cellular device without needing to opt-in to a phone contract the press release reported.

The arrangements work with Sprint Spark-enabled Samsung Galaxy S4TM Mini, 4G LTE-capable Samsung Galaxy S3, and 3G Moto G. These, along with Apple's iPhone 4 smartphone are for sale in Sprint stores and by calling Sprint Telesales at 1-855-639-4644.

The phones also go with the Smart, and Smart Plus pre-paid plans. The smart plan costs $45 and comes with limitless talk and text, and data that works with Wi-Fi the press release reported.

Customers receive a $60 plan with Smart Plus that includes limitless talk, text and data.

Consumers can put more money on their phones by visiting a Sprint Authorized Retailer, through the company's website using a credit card, or by press *3 on their pre-paid phone the press release reported.

Older devices can also be turned in via Sprint's Buyback program, which gives consumers credits. The trade-in is only applicable at the start online for those on pre-paid plans
