Sony's PlayStation 4 game console is in the record books again with seven million machines sold.

According to News24, the number is reportedly more than Microsoft's Xbox one game console which tallied 3.9 million machines sold.

The number increased to over four million in March because the fighting game Titanfall hit the market in conjunction with Twitch's live video streaming capability service.

"The response from the global gaming community for PS4 (PlayStation 4) has been overwhelming and we are truly humbled that gamers are selecting PS4 as their next generation console of choice," Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment said in a statement News24 reported.

"The PS4 journey has just begun, and although we are still facing difficulties keeping up with the strong demand worldwide, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet the needs of our customers," House said in the statement.
