Are Britney Spears and Mariah Carey already "oldies?"
According to recent Christina Aguilera news, "The Voice" coach allegedly refused a Las Vegas residency because her career is still soaring high.
The issue started when her manager, Irving Azoff, denied rumors of the singer's supposed plans for a Vegas residency last month. Singers like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Mariah Carey all had their turn.
"Not time yet," Azoff previously told VH1 about the previous Christina Aguilera news. "[Christina's] about to go back on 'The Voice,' about to finish her record, about to do another guest shot on 'Nashville' and the record's amazing."
He did add that he meant no disrespect to the artists who already did shows in Vegas, but he still maintained his view about his ward's career.
"No disrespect to Britney [Spears] or to Jennifer Lopez, who is doing one, or to Shania [Twain], who did one, or any of them, but Christina's not peaked yet," he continued. "She's in the prime of her career. We'll tour the world, but we're not ready to sit down in Vegas."
Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported that the "Stronger" singer did worry about damage control for her manager's words but she allegedly agreed with his sentiment wholeheartedly.
"She said, 'I won a Grammy this year! Why would I go to Vegas and join Britney and Mariah in an oldies act?'" "The Voice" coach reportedly said according to The National Enquirer's source. "I don't have to spend three nights a week reliving the past. I would get more fans doing a season of 'The Voice!'"
In fact, she will be reclaiming her place on the revolving seat from Gwen Stefani next season.
As for Britney Spears' reaction to the shade, KDramaStars noted that the "Pretty Girls" singer didn't take the diss seriously, opting to enjoy her time hanging out with friends instead.
