‘Spectre’ Will Be The Last ‘James Bond’ Film For Sam Mendes! Director Confirms Movie Theme Song Has Been Recorded!

| By

Sam Mendes, who has directed the highest earning "James Bond" movie throughout the film's history, has recently hinted that he won't be doing another sequel after "Spectre."

This will be the 24th installment and he admitted that he wasn't supposed to take this project.

"I said no to the last one and then ended up doing it, and was pilloried by all my friends," 49-year-old director told the BBC (via Comic Book). "But I do think this is probably it...I don't think I could go down that road again. You do have to put everything else on hold."

It seems that Sam Mendes has given everything he has in "Spectre" since this will be his farewell film for the "James Bond" series.

"This is a bigger movie than Skyfall," the filmmaker revealed. "It's shot in more places - we were in Mexico City and Tangiers and northern Sahara and Rome and the Alps and London. It's been an enormous undertaking," he added.

Kate Winslet's former husband also teased the fans by announcing the status of the movie theme song.

"I can say that the song's been recorded and it's fantastic and I'm very excited about it," Mendes said. "You won't have to wait long."

The director didn't reveal who sang the theme song, but there were rumors coming out that Sam Smith will be working on it. However, the 23-year-old British singer denied the rumors and claimed that no one asked him to do it.

"People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's going on," he told Capital FM (via The Guardian). "I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by now." After dismissing the speculations, the "Stay With Me" hitmaker dropped the name of another famous British singer. "I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it," Smith revealed.

Last week, the 28-year-old songstress posted the words "Live and Let Die" on Twitter. That is the title of Paul McCartney's classic song and also the title of 1973 "James Bond" film. Ellie Goulding may be hinting to her fans that she'll be singing the theme song of "Spectre."
