Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot has reportedly declined the role of Esther in the Ben-Hur movie remake. According to reports, the Fast and Furious star will be busy filming her movies with DC and Warner Bros., having taken on the role of Wonder Woman. Aside from the movie Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, there is the "Justice League" series and of course, her very own Wonder Woman movie.
As of press time, there has been no official release from MGM and Paramount as to who will replace Gadot in the said role. The movie's female lead role Esther, is a slave and Ben Hur's love interest.
The earlier Ben-Hur film has won 11 Oscars, which is quite a tough challenge to beat. So pressure must be on for the writers, producers and director of the new Ben-Hur movie, which is an adaptation of Lew Wallace's 1880 novel, Ben-Hur:A Tale of the Christ.
Hollywood Reporter has disclosed that Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston will play the role of Ben-Hur, the Jewish prince who was betrayed into slavery by his childhood friend Messala, played by Toby Kebbell (from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). As a result, Ben-Hur is obliged to fight for his freedom and vengeance with the help of Morgan Freeman's character, who trains Ben-Hur how to win at chariot-racing.
Oh well, even if we won't be seeing Gal Gadot as Esther, she has our eyes set on her as Wonder Woman in all the DC movies where she will be a part of. So expect her gracing the big screen maybe year after year as she reprises her Wonder Woman role. There are even talks that she will have appearance in the Superman and Batman stand-alone films.
Wonder Woman is set to hit the screens on June 23, 2017.
